My suspicions were correct. The figure for Thursday last has just been corrected to 82, 835, which is in line with what I'd expect. So, still on track for over 90k new car registrations in 2010, which is good news. Thanks for a great site.

Are the figures for new car registrations for yesterday (Sep 16) correct? They show the daily number dropping from around 200 every day this month to just 37 yesterday. Is this credible? If so, any reason?

The commercial sensitivity is only in relation to the "numbers game" played by importers and distributors.

It is a poor reflection of FOI in this country that the revenue are willing to withold the daily statistics to pander to the request of a few while deneying medium to small motor traders a facility to analyse the true state of sales in the country so that they may have an opportunity to survive and prosper.
