Pre-Purchase Technical Inspection
What's covered in the Technical Inspection?
Each inspection takes approximately 90 minutes to complete and is conducted in a fully equipped automotive workshop. Examined under the following 11 headings, the MotorCheck Technical Inspection is the most comprehensive and competitive inspection of its kind.
1. Vehicle Details
The vehicle's identifying numbers are identified and documented.
2. Odometer Information
The vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) is examined for contradictions with the visual display.
3. Service History
The vehicle's documented service history is vetted.
4. Items needing Replacement or Top-up
Fluids and other Key Components are checked for levels and wear and tear.
5. Engine Compartment
A visual examination checking for fluid leaks, battery functions, hoses, belts, e.t.c.
6. Brakes - Wheels - Tyres
Detailed examination of components to confirm correct equipment and evaluate wear and tear.
7. Vehicle Underside
With the vehicle on a hydraulic lift, the drive shaft, fuel pipes, gaiters and underside mechanics are examined for damage, leaks and corrosion.
8. Vehicle Exterior
Exterior check of all lights & lenses, glass, bodywork, locks and number plates.
9. Vehicle Interior
Visual & Technical checks of upholstery, sun roof, locks, windows, heaters, keys, seat belts, carpets, e.t.c.
10. Boot / Luggage Area
Check water seals for leaks, identify tool kit & spare wheel.
11. Road Test
Engine, Gears, Clutch, ABS, Handbrake, Steering, e.t.c.
Once completed, the inspecting technician will walk you through his detailed report and explain any recommendations / comments he may have made during the test. You will be provided with a full copy of the report for your records.
